New house with energy efficient windows.

Are you thinking about building a new extension to your home? If so, The London Glazing Group can help you from the outset. Aside from the general design considerations we can offer expert advice about choosing windows and doors for a new extension

One of the things you will need to think about with your new extension is what choice of products to use. Modern glazed extensions can be provided with a broad range of windows and doors as well as the all-important roof. So how do all these products work together to create a contemporary glass room for the home?

Choosing the right windows, doors and roof for a new extension.

Whatever the price, style or size of a new extension, The London Glazing Group offer a complete range of windows, doors and glass roofs.

Whatever the price, style or size of a new extension, The London Glazing Group offer a complete range of windows, doors and glass roofs.

One of your first considerations will be whether you want the latest generation conservatory or orangery. These are a stand-alone structure made from aluminium or PVCu. A bespoke glass roof in a choice of designs forms the basis of your new structure, with windows, bifolding or sliding doors underneath.

Your other option is to create a built structure that then incorporates new aluminium or PVCu windows and doors. Today, this is the most attractive option. It is slightly more expensive to create but provides a proper built extension that appears to be part of your property rather than an addition to it.

Whatever you choose, the same great range of modern, secure and thermally efficient glazed products are available.

For your glass roof, think about how it looks from the inside. Slimmer is better.

When it comes to aluminium roofs, the aesthetics are paramount. We recommend you look at the profile sizes of your roof bars and especially how they will look from the inside. Roof products vary widely in appearance, and you will probably not want a bulky looking roof.

We suggest the Atlas Glazed Roof. Atlas is roof product that is one of the strongest, most attractive and high specification roofs on the market. Not only is it nearly 30% thinner than most other roofs, but it is also 70% thinner at the critical ridge where the roof bars all meet.

Internally our Atlas Aluminium roof features modern square slimline bars that take their design from the impressive high-rise glazing found in skyscrapers and high-rise buildings. Internally it is elegant, outside it looks stylish, and above all, it is super strong.

Aluminium ribbon windows in a modern glazed extension provide even more light.

When it comes to choosing the right windows for your new extension, orangery or conservatory, aluminium cannot be beaten.

The huge advantage of aluminium over PVCu is slim lines and strength. The other benefit of aluminium is that windows can be made much larger than other materials. This means less opening sashes, fewer mullions and transoms, more glass and less visible frame.

Aluminium also enables you to have other types of windows such as tilt and turn, sliding windows and much more. You can even custom-design your aluminium windows to your design that we will manufacture for you.

Our AluK windows are one of the most popular brands of windows for conservatories in the UK. They are superb in their security and weather performance while being very affordable. If you are looking for something even better, take a look at our Schuco aluminium windows. These are available with many different frames, mullion and opening light options and are packed with German engineering and great design.

Bifolding, Sliding or French Doors for a new extension?

One of the most important choices will be the type of door to have in your new extension. The rule is to think about how you will use this new room. If your new extension is very much part of your living and entertaining space, then bifolding doors are perfect.

Perhaps you want to build a room to maximise on the views outside? Here you may wish to consider sliding doors. Our AluK and Schuco doors can take glass panels of up to 3 metres in width, creating you a beautiful sliding glass wall.

French doors are the cheapest option and are ideal for a smaller conservatory or extension.

Aluminium again is the best material for your doors. They are slimmer, stronger, more reliable and look better. For French doors, aluminium doors can be made taller and wider, removing the need for extra side or top panels to obstruct your view.
